My Lenovo laptop used to turn off its fan in Windows 7, this would save a lot of energy and battery would last maybe about 2 times more. I've tried using dust removal of Lenovo energy management software, it speeds up fan for a while and in Windows 7, I would have silent fans afterwards but it's useless in Windows It was an Intel Graphic's driver bug and it's fixed now, if you're having this issue you need to update your Windows.
Maybe try this guy in advanced power settings? Windows 10 upgrade defaulted my power settings, and if you're on "high performance" IIRC it will be set to active. I had the same problem using a Dell Latitude Core i7, after upgrading to Windows 10, the Fan was running continuously in high speed mode, very annoying, I just switched from Balance power option to Power Saver, Problem solved, the fan runs in low speed most of the time and only when processor is pushed to the limit it speeds up for short periods of time.

The fan uses way less energy than the CPU so, if you really were having the laptop run twice as long with the fan switched off, it was because the CPU was put into a low-power mode which meant it didn't need th fan to cool it. So you might want to investigate the power-saving options that Windows 10 provides, rather than just looking for things to do with the fan.Register Now!

But I found it quite noisy when the machine heats up and the fan starts to blow real strong, and somehow the machine will heat up and the fan speed starts to go up even when I leave my laptop there doing nothingwhich is kinda annoying and makes me doubt the technology of MSI. Anyone faces the same issues here?
Or maybe I didn't configure the optimum system for the fan. As for the FAN would randomly starts, I think that's because some applications still run in the background, especially the Windows auto update would take high CPU usage rate when it is running.
Quote from: daweiting on April, Hey, I just got the ge72 as well and haven't been able to get the right fan to work yet either. Did you ever find that it was working properly and maybe only turning on for the most intense of operations? Yes, I can. Is there any way to test it or make it spin somehow just to know it works? Quote from: timkelly on November, That is what i was afraid of.
That button only turns on the left fan at full capacity. So I took the back cover off and the cord was unplugged. Go figure. So I plugged that back in and put everything back together and it works like a charm! Albeit the right fan is a tad slower at outputting air than the left. When I had the back cover off, I noticed that the right fan wasn't entirely enclosed so there was some area for it to leak back into the inside of the machine instead of being forced out. That is the only difference between the two fans I could see for as to why the output of the second fan was slower than that of the first.
Bottom line, I'm happy the machine is fully functional!Inmate transfer va

The one on the left obviously has a small picture of a fan next to it, and when I press it, Fan 1 gets faster and Fan 2 turns on. Try playing any game with it and see if the fan activates by itself. But most of the time they should be both on all the same time.
There's also a turbo fan switch on the top right hand corner of the laptop. Try toggling it and that should make you fans run a lot faster for heavy usage. If that fan still won't spin you might want to call the manufacturer for them to have a look. You must log in or register to reply here. If you are using a laptop or other off-the-shelf computer like a Dellchances are your computer automatically controls its fans to some extent already. This is especially common and necessary! In addition, your motherboard can either have 3-pin sockets or 4-pin sockets or both!
Got it? A lot of modern computers have fan controls built right in—you just need to dig into the BIOS.
Once in the BIOS, you may have to hunt around to find your fan controls. Not every motherboard will have all these options—some simplify it more than others—but most will follow this general pattern. But then your temperature will increase, because the fan has slowed down, creating a situation in which the fan is constantly ramping up, slowing down, then ramping up again every minute or two. You may have to play with these values a bit to get them just right.
Your SYS fans may have similar options, or you may only be able to set them to certain constant speeds.Les du
Some motherboards may also come with their own applications to control the fans, in addition to the built-in BIOS options. You may also note that some values are absurd—like my Temp2, Remote 1, and Remote 2 temperatures, which show as degrees Celsius. This helps declutter the main window. Click the Configure button and head to the Advanced tab. Use the arrow buttons to raise or lower the speed of your first fan—in my case, Pwm1. Since I can also hear and see the inside of my computer case you may need to open yours upI know that this is the fan connected to my CPU.
To rename an item, just highlight it and press F2. When you press OK, the changes will propagate to the main SpeedFan interface, as shown below. You can repeat this process with your other fans. Click the Configure button to head back into the configuration menu.
You get the idea. Your values may vary for your particular CPU, fan, and preferences.By cresterkJanuary 11, in MSI.
I don't know if this has been here posted before and I couldn't find anything after searching but if it has, then mods can please delete. NOTE: I didn't create any of these programs.
Download the file attached, it contains RWeverything ver 1.
Now to test if the app is actually working or not. Choose notebook name as gtDX or 16f for gt70, gt60 and ge Choose profile as Quite. It should look like this :. Select apply and listen if your fan speed goes down. If it did, it worked!!!
How do I activate my second fan?
Now to make your own profile, first open Fan profile editor. Now click load profile and load whatever profile you want I prefer default and change the values of temperature or fan speed to whatever you want. It should look something like this:. Now, change profile name to whatever you want. Now go to fan profile applier. Dont forget to make sure all the "remember" boxes are checked. All changes will be reverted to default each time you restart the pc so don't worry about messing things up permanently.
Tell me what you guys think. MSI fan control. Well, I am glad someone found it useful. I really like this as a way to tinker with the fan speeds. I have a GT70 in a very hot climate and like more aggressive cooling, for obvious reasons. I reckon I'll eventually modify the EC, once I find a good config and have enough posts to download the damn tool. Edit: To have this applied at startup, add a task under task scheduler to execute Fan Profile Applier.
